  Emergency Situation Rehearsal at BCCSC

On May 14th 2008, BCCSC held an emergency situation rehearsal at 10:05 AM. This took place so that our school will be better prepared for welcoming the Beijing Olympic Games, and to implement the recommendations from the security meeting of the Tongzhou District Educational Committee. The committee advised that certain standards be set to establish a safe and regular environment for working, studying and living, to improve everyoneˇ¦s security consciousness, and to limit injuries and/or damage in the case of an emergency or accident.

When the emergency bell rang in the school, all the 1400 faculty and students got out of the offices and classrooms by the emergency exits and made their way successfully to the playground. The entire group spent 3 1/2 minutes to reach the play ground, with the fastest class arriving in about 1 1/2 minutes in good order.

The school then held a seminar to establish procedures for a better rehearsal. The committee set up many groups to help faculty and students get out of the buildings, such as Way-Leading Group, Healing Group, Fire Group and Communication Group. Also, a meeting was held for the faculty and the students to educate them in the new procedures. The entire rehearsal was a reflection of what could possibly happen during a real emergency, and special tools were used to add realism- a fire hydrant, fire extinguisher, stretcher and wheelchair.
