The English speech- competition -- 2008 “Happy English Talk Show” held by our Teaching Department of English and Learning Department of Student Union come to an end completely on April 22nd 2008. This activity prepared for grade 10 and grade 11 were held successfully on April 15th and 22nd 2008. The two grades students took part in the activity zealously, show their best sides and also won the honor for their classes.
The students with no speech encouraged the participants with their great zealousness which made the participants more confident. This activity transferred the students’ enthusiasm of learning English by the three aspects of words guess, pictures talk and movie sound, and that played a very important role on improving students’ oral English. This activity was a good opportunity for our students to practice. Not only did this competition prove their ability on cooperation, but the competition also showed and enhanced the spirit of union among classes.
　　This activity was planed and organized by Learning Department of Students Union; they all work very hard for this activity. The student learnt a lot from it and felt very happy although it was a tough work.
　　Without the support from the teachers of Teaching Department of English, the activity could not be held successfully; especially the support from Mr. Colin Childs the Canadian vice Principal and all Canadian teachers in our school. They played the role of critics enthusiastically, and gave the fair judgments. And also, the teachers of Zhang Jinhai and Guo Xiaodan from Teaching Department of English expressed their precious advice on the evaluation system and some relative processes, examined and approved the translation materials of each item of the activity.
