2010 GRADUATION ADDRESS JOHN KERSHAW DEPUTY MINISTER OF EDUCATION, NEW BRUNSWICK CANADA

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am honoured to speak to the students graduating today.

You should be very proud of your accomplishments.

I know your teachers are proud of you.

I can also see by the many people here today and the smiles on their faces that your parents, friends and loved ones are proud of you today.

I also know that Dr. Pang and his team are also very pleased with your success.

Today marks an important day in your journey through life.

You are living in exciting times.

The 21st Century offers you endless possibilities.

You are living in the Age of Knowledge, where creative thinking, innovative ideas and access to information through computers are transforming economies and societies.

You are graduating with a diploma from both China and New Brunswick, Canada.

This accomplishment is very rare and opens many doors for you.

I hope you will be inspired to go on to learn further, whether it be here in China, or in some other parts of the world.

Hopefully, some of you will come to Canada to study, and maybe even to New Brunswick.

In New Brunswick we have excellent universities and we have many Chinese students.

We would welcome you and be very pleased if you could come and spend some time with us.

Whatever you choose to do in the years ahead, remember one thing.

The future belongs to you students.

You will have many opportunities to choose from.

Choose wisely, enjoy your journey, and remember the day you graduated with your friends, in the great hall of China!

Thank you.
