BCCSC Students in New Brunswick Visits Maple Sugar Farm

Twenty BCCSC students in grade 11 are spending their second term with families around Rothesay, New Brunswick, near Saint John. In late March the students, who attend Rothesay High School and Kennebecasis Valley High School, visited a maple sugar farm in the countryside.

After a lunch of pancakes and real maple syrup, the students learned about the process of gathering and boiling maple sap. They were surprised to learn that it takes 40 liters of sap from a maple tree to make one liter of maple syrup! The group headed back to school after throwing a few snowballs. Other short trips and activities are being planned for the spring.
