2015 the Duke of Edinburgh Award Mobilization Meeting Held Successfully in BCCSC

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is an international level awards, which established in 1956, the current is widely accepted by many international organizations and universities. BCCSC is the first school in China to join the award, there are hundreds of students to apply for and register for the award now. The award request students to develop four aspects, namely, Service, Skill, Physical Recreation, Adventurous Journey. According to this semester work plan of the student Administrative office (SAO) and the requirements of the award, SAO of BCCSC cooperated together with Beijing Professional Training Institutions to organize "Outdoor Adventure Activities" for students who apply for Edinburgh gold, silver and bronze award. With this award and high school diploma, students will have more possibility to be accepted by ideal universities abroad. After graduation from universities, students will also have more opportunity to apply for well-known international organizations.

On September 21-22, 2015, junior and senior high school students respectively hold the seminar of International Youth Award for outdoor adventure activities at 4:30 - 5:30pm in the Lecture Theatre, Mr. TIAN Zhenzhou, Executive Principal, Ms. MA Xiaokui, Director of SAO, Mr. Ian Geogre Devlin and Ms. SONG Shuyao attended the meeting.

The activity was presided by grade supervisor, specially invited Mr. ZHANG, a manager from Beijing Oriental Xinsen Outward Bound Training Company to speak. The lecture mainly talked about Outward Bound development. Firstly, Ms. MA Xiaokui introduced the significance of the Edinburgh award, comparing with other awards, it has three features : high level, more contents and wide acceptance. She encouraged the students to plan high school life and actively participate in public welfare activities, and wish the students to accomplish the outdoor adventurous activities.

Mr. ZHANG help everybody understand outdoor development training and its practical significance, introduced the huairou tianchi valley scenic spots. then, he has detail explanation and demonstration for outdoor travel, survival techniques and methods, and the use of equipments, such as how to choose the camp, how to put up our tent, how to tell direction, the processing of snake bites, how to do for outdoor danger and so on. Mr. ZHANG told the students a lot of interesting things that happened in the outdoors, made the students to understand strange and novel outdoor activities.

Finally, Ms. MA Xiaokui told students detailed arrangements of the date, time & schedule for outdoor adventure activities in this semester. After the lecture, hundreds of students left and made personal communication with trainer about specific arrangement.

All students was required to complete the minimum of bronze award before graduation from this year, the students who get gold medal or silver medal will give scholarship from this term.
