2008 BCCSC Students Awarded 2 Champion Badges of AMC& AIME
24 students of BCCSC attended 2008 American Mathematics Competition (AMC ) on Feb 27, 2008, they got very successful achievements. Full mark of this competition is 150, Awards mark for G10 is equal or over 120, Awards mark for G12 is equal or over 97.5. we have 5 students got awards, they are: G10- Zhao Tiancheng, G11-Bao Haoyun, G12- Han Changhao and Ling Kun. These 5 students got promotion because of achievement of AMC and were invited to attend AIME Math Competition. Zhang Jiajun and Zhao Tianchen got Champion Badges, especially for Zhang Jiajun, he got 2 Champion Badges in 2008 AMC and AIME and also got Champion Badges in 2007 AMC.
AMC is also called American High School Mathematics Examination (AHSME) which set up by Mathematics Association of America in 1950, which belong to Mathematics Association of America. It added American Junior High School Mathematic Examination since 1985. Each year there are over 600,000 students to register for exam in North America, Now AMC & AIME have already become trustful Math Competition with high efficiency in the whole world. There are more than 20 countries and districts included Canada, Singapore, Japan, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, France, China, Taiwan and Hongkong to attend this competition. This competition has recommended by American High School Principal to become one of main activity each year.
Student who got over AMC mark 100 or within 5% place in competition will promote to attend next more difficulty competition – American Invitational Mathematics Examination ( AIME).
AIME will hold later 5 weeks than AMC, 3 hours for exam, competition questions consists of 15 answers within 0-999 integer questions, got one score if answer is right, no score if it’s wrong, full mark is 15 score, of course exam is difficult. AMC & AIMC are one part of selection competition for American attending IMO.
