2011 BCCSC International Educational Exchange Summer Camp
It is at 3:00pm on July 8th,2011 that twenty-six Canadian Students and Chaperons attend the opening ceremony at BCCSC Lecture Theatre together with the Chinese campers as well as some host families.
Dr. Francis Pang, Chairman of BCCSC, delivered a speech. Jody Carr, NB Minister of Education gives congratulations remarks and tells the students to appreciate the precious opportunity to have a better understanding of China and experience Chinese Culture as much as possible. Canadian Chaperon representative and Student representatives from China and Canada thank Francis Pang’s contribution to the program.
Campers experience Chinese culture through various interesting courses on campus designed by BCCSC International Education Exchange Summer Camp Office, such as Martial arts, Chinese Painting, Traditional Chinese Folk dance, Traditional Chinese Folk music, Mandarin, Seal Carving and Ceramic Sculpture. Besides, to carry forward traditional Chinese culture, promote cultural exchanges between Canada and China, BCCSC also offers exciting activities off campus to enhance the friendship between campers which include visiting some famous places of interesting, such as Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and The Temple of Heaven. Of course, the success in climbing to the top of the Great Wall China helps the campers build up their confidence to overcome difficulties in the future. Compared with these places of interesting, Olympic Sites---Birds Nest and Water Cube astonish the Canadian Campers. The fast development of China can’t be ignored. Sopping at Silk Market and Pearl Market is the most unforgettable experience because they enjoy the bargaining and they have a variety of choice there.
The closing ceremony on July 15th indicates the end of the camp and the campers’ fabulous performance wins the applause from the audience. Their trip to Beijing ends but the friendship between Chinese and Canadian will continue and will be enhanced by such kind of activities.
Canadian students and their Chaperons fly to Nanjing early in the morning on July 16th. Best wishes for them.
