BCCSC’s Middle School Students attended the Global Round Square Conference in Perth
Ms. Yuan Zhenying, the delegation leader of BCCSC’s middle school, and six middle school students left Beijing on April 10th to Perth, in Western Australia, for a weeklong Round Square Conference.
There were more than 180 students, who attended the conference. Students with different cultural backgrounds got along well during the activities, such as, “Outward Bound”, “Service for Others”, “Protect the Environment” and “Democracy Awareness”. The six students of BCCSC put their best foot forward.
The theme of this Round Square Conference was: “Life on the Edge”, which means that all the teenagers should change the environments of the Earth. All the students were divided into 12 groups to discuss the learning and feelings about these activities. They enjoyed the discussion.
The third day of the conference, April 13th, was Service Day. Students went to the bush to learn about different kinds of plants and established routes for the giraffes to move. The students understood that “Service” is not only to assist humans, but also Nature.
On the last day of this conference, the representatives attended the closing ceremony; appreciated the performance of the Scotch College Band; watched the volunteers’ videos and recalled the happy time of being together.
“Round Square” will be in our hearts forever.

The student’s Sentiments are attached:
On April2th, we participated in the Rock Climbing Activity with the theme “Adventure”. Hao Pengfei overcame his fear of heights and climbed very high.
On April 13th, we arrived at the bush to get to know more animals and plants and establish routes for the giraffes. This activity taught us that “Service” is not only to assist humans, but also Nature. Only when we service the Nature well, can Nature be a resource for us. After we finished our tasks, teachers asked us to listen the sounds of nature: the twitter of birds, the sounds of ants, who were moving house, the sounds of falling leaves. All of these seemed to say goodbye to us.
On the 5th day of the conference, we attended the closing ceremony; appreciated the performance of the Scotch College Band; watched the volunteers’ videos and recalled the happy time of being together. When we were going to take the bus to leave, we waved goodbye to our friends. We were as happy as when we arrived, but we felt a little bit unwilling to say bye. Time flies. Our memories were full of smiles. We didn’t feel regret and sadness for our parting, we just gave our best wishes to our friends. Round Square will be in our hearts forever.
