BCCSC’s the Duke of Edinburgh International Awards (International Youth Awards) Mobilization Meeting and Awards Ceremony

The Duke of Edinburgh International Awards (International Youth Awards), set in 1965, which has been acknowledged widely by many international organizations and universities. Beijing Concord College of Sino-Canada is the first several schools who joined in mainland. This award requires students to devote themselves to four aspects: Community Service, Skills, Physical Agility and Outdoor Adventure. According to the requests of the Student Administrative Office, BCCSC cooperated with Beijing Oriental Xin Sen Outwards Bound Company to organize the outward bound for the students who applied to the Duke of Edinburgh Golden and Silver Awards.

BCCSC held the Outdoor Adventure Lectures in the Lecture Theater at 4:10—5:30 p.m. on September 6 and 7. Mr. James Tian, Executive Principal; Ms. Ma, Director of Student Administrative Office; Mr. Cao Xiaopeng, Director of High School Departments, Manager Zhang and Manager Wang of the Oriental Xin Sen Outward Bound Company attended the meeting.

Mr. James Tian introduced the Duke of Edinburgh international Awards and pointed that it is different from other awards. It has three obvious characters: High Level, Rich Contents and Widely Acknowledgement. Mr. James Tian encouraged students to participate in the activities regarding the Duke of Edinburgh International Awards.

Manager Zhang demonstrated the usages of the common equipments and explained how to deal with the difficult situations during outward bounds. He also told the students the stories he had experienced or heard during these excursions.

Last term 16 students won the Duke of Edinburgh International Golden Awards, 4 students won sliver awards, and 28 students won bronze awards. Mr. James Tian and Manager Wang issued awards to these students.

At the end of the meeting, Ms. Ma introduced how to apply the Duke of Edinburgh International Awards and introduced the specific schedule of Duke of Edinburgh International Awards for this term.
