BCCSC Held the Lecture about Canadian Law

Dr.Francis Pang, the chairman of the Board, and Mr.Andy Truong, Executive Director, invited Judge Irwin Lampert from New Brunswick to give a lecture about the Canadian law to high school students on May 16, 2019.

Judge Lampert is the chairman of the Canadian Judge Association, and has rich experience in different cases. He gave detailed explanations concerning the relevant laws of Canada.

The first important keyword of this lecture was “bullying”. Judge Lampert explained this term and what we should do when we are bullied.

He explained “bullying” and identified the potential location of bullying on campus, and classified the level of bullying for different behaviors. Detailed guidance on how to deal with such behaviors was provided. No bullying behavior is allowed in the school.

The second keywords of the lecture were alcoholism, and drug abuse. Judge Lampert pointed out that the majority of juvenile crimes originated from this. He also introduced the consequences of alcoholism and drug abuse. He appealed that students should refrain from tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.

At the end of this lecture, Judge Lampert emphasized the importance of education. He also emphasized that there is a great chance of criminal act for students who drop - out of school too early with no financial support. Therefore, students are expected to learn more during the golden age of their youth, and contribute to the development of society in the future.

In view of the fact that almost all of the students go abroad after graduation, our school has been inviting Canadian Judges to conduct legal lectures for students every year since 2002. It helps students to gain more knowledge of law, of which students can benefit.
