Enhance Effect and Improve Quality, Focus on Integrated Development|The Online Training for Staff of Beijing Tongzhou Huaren School/Beijing Concord College of Sino-Canada Is Successfully Completed



Firstly, Professor Zhou Lihong, the principal of OSSD TVO ILC offshore senior high school program, gave a detailed introduction to OSSD course: OSSD course means the course for Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The secondary school education in Ontario is one of the most advanced secondary school systems in the world, and the most authoritative non exam-oriented education system of the globe. OSSD is highly recognized in the world for its strict and high quality teaching management. Now, it has been recognized by top-level universities in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, etc. This is the fundamental reason why we introduced OSSD — we want to expand the paths of overseas education open to our students.
The scale and quality of OSSD education resources are very advantageous. Its diploma is widely recognized. Renowned universities such as Oxford University, University of Toronto, etc have included it into their student assessment system. Hearteningly, our school has become an offshore senior high school of Ontario Ministry of Education that is officially authorized by TVO ILC. In the future, we will focus more on students’ ability to think critically, innovate, and research. This will offer better opportunities for our students.

The headmaster of Yuanfang Subject Training School, Niu Yadong, provided psychological training to teachers, thus maintaining their mental health and relieving their anxiety during the pandemic. He pointed out the three factors critical to mental wellbeing, namely social environment, personal value and hereditary factors. Then he performed anxiety tests for teachers, and pointed out the important role of sports and study in promoting mental health. His training is very helpful to the teachers.
The vice headmaster Ma Ge stressed the importance of online teaching in the context of the pandemic. He asked all the teachers to study and understand the documents issued by the municipal and district education committee, and have an objective evaluation of the pandemic situation. He instructed teachers to take advantage of the benefits of online education, namely interconnection, diversified forms, unlimited location and time, group sharing, integration and reconstruction, to explore the future of large scale individualized education. He also emphasized that it was necessary to achieve the in-depth integration of online and offline education through the integration of values, management, family and school, thus devising new methods of study and developing new educational ecology in the context of overall online education. Meanwhile, he encouraged teachers to read carefully the online teaching work plans formulated by the school, and asked the Teaching Research Team and Class Preparation Team to be fully prepared, to collect teaching materials, to complete the teaching arrangement seriously, and to follow up students’ feedback actively.
Finally, the Executive Headmaster Tian Zhenzhou made a conclusive speech with the theme of “Objective-oriented, problem-oriented, and innovation-oriented”. He particularly pointed out the importance and necessity of “Focus on the Double Reduction and Double Increase”, “Implement Double Improvement”, and asked all teachers to carefully implement the “Two News” (new course standards and new textbooks) policy, focus on student-oriented class, enhance effect and improve quality. As regards the daily management problems, problems concerning quality improvement and problems that are reported by the students, teachers should face them bravely and solve them actively. What’s more, Mr Tian also pointed out the importance of innovation in course and teaching methods, and urged teachers to pay attention to students’ individualized and diversified needs, so as to show the up-to-date attribute of the course. The detailed and pertinent sharing benefited teachers enormously.
“Teachers should focus on teaching and make efforts to ensure the healthy growth of each student.” Under the correct guidance of the school leaders, the teachers will certainly advance with the times, adopt a rigorous and positive attitude toward teaching, and make progress continuously.
