Round Square Virtual Conferences: A World of Opportunity
The Round Square Virtual Conference is coordinated by Round Square schools to help students from all countries better develop their cross -cultural understanding and improve themselves such as language ability, problem solving ability, communication ability, teamwork ability, etc.
On Wednesday November 16th our 6 newly elected Round Square Leaders attended a Zoom conference that was hosted by Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in the USA. The theme was: "Fear (less): Embracing the Complexities of Change." 62 participants from 13 schools in 8 countries (Australia, Canada, Ghana, India, Pakistan, Peru, UAE and USA) attended this conference. Our leaders had the opportunity to hear personal experiences from a variety of speakers about times when they experienced fear and how they overcame it. They also had a chance to break off into smaller groups and discuss their own fears and experiences with students from all over the world. This was a great opportunity for our BCCSC leaders to communicate in English and meet leaders from other countries.
Six high school students from BCCSC attended the virtual conference hosted by First Steps School of Arts & Science in Pakistan with the theme "Social Media Manipulation" on Wednesday, December 14th. A total of 121 students from 21 schools attended the conference. The classmates discussed "Have you ever faced or known someone who has faced cyber bullying? Why do we choose to cancel a person? Do you slave to trends on Social Media?" and "What is the role of the media in manipulating your social opinion? The students participated in the discussion actively. Selina Zhang and Fiona Lin delivered the summary speeches on behalf of the group. Students looked forward to participating in more conferences in the future.
