Quiet History and Prosperous Today

All the students in the second and third grades of junior middle school went to Winter Palace on June 9 to participate in the practice activities carried out by the History, Geography and Politics Teaching and Research Group. Students will experience the splendor of Winter Palace in the past and the vicissitudes of today.

Winter Palace known as "the garden of ten thousand gardens", is composed of Yuanmingyuan, Changchun Garden and Qichun Garden, so it is also called the three gardens of Winter Palace. Winter Palace was first built in 1707. It was given by Emperor Kangxi to the fourth son of Emperor Yinzhen. "yuanming" is the name of Emperor Yongzheng. Winter Palace was once praised by French writer Victor Hugo as "a model of ideal and art".

This visit to Winter Palace includes three parts: visiting gardens, teachers' explanations and students' perceptions. In 1860, the British-French Allied Forces invaded Beijing, broke into the Winter Palace, looted the jewelry and burned it. After it was destroyed, the world could only see the ruins and lotus flowers, and it was difficult to see the magnificence and beauty of the former imperial gardens. What we can feel is the silent history and the difficult thoughts.

In this activity, the students visited the ruins of Qichun Garden, Xiyang Building and Changchun Garden in turn under the guidance of their teachers. In the early days, Qichun Garden was the imperial garden of Prince Yunxiang of Qingyi, named "Jiaohui Garden". In the middle of the reign of Emperor Qianlong, the garden was given to Fu Heng, a university scholar, and renamed "Chunhe Garden". In the 34th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Chunhe Garden was incorporated into yuanmingyuan and officially named "Qichun Garden".The happiness and sorrow of the emperor, the pain and glory of the royal family, also show the beginning of a nation's suffering. Walking on the road, looking at the only remaining stone arch bridge, thinking about the prosperous scene of that year, the students could not help but feel sad and silent.

The rippling lake, the willows on the bank, but unfortunately there are no ancient trees here, and the buildings here are rebuilt by later generations according to the design of the destroyed front garden of Winter Palace.Here is the Changchun Garden, where students are blowing the lakeside breeze, lamenting the difficulty of today's beautiful life.

The students arrived at the most famous landscape of Winter Palace -Xiyang Tower. These stones are carved beautifully. Huge and exquisite white marble falls in disorder in the grass. Although there are only debris left now, it can still make students feel that it used to be magnificent, such as Haiyan Hall, Dashuifa, Huanghua Array, Guanhua Pavilion..The beautiful scenery of the past emerges in my mind, and all kinds of fantastic ideas and magnificent fountain landscapes are vivid in my mind, which all condense the wisdom and culture of the nation. Therefore, Winter Palace is half amazing and half sighing.

As far as the eye can see, the wind in the wilderness of yuanmingyuan tells ancient stories sobbing, and the remaining broken arms painfully write the shame of a country. The students looked at the ruins in front of them, but they could vaguely imagine their glory. Although some people have never seen it, they all dream of it.This is an impressive and unknown masterpiece, just like the distant Asian civilization seen from the horizon of European civilization in the dusk.

After seeing the prosperous scenery, we can feel the vicissitudes and desolation of Winter Palace, but without Winter Palace, we don't know what it means to read for the rise of China. (Fig. 7) After the visit, the students understood that only when a nation is strong can it stand among the nations of the world, and only when a country is open to the outside world and enterprising can it make continuous progress.Past experience, if not forgotten, is a guide for the future. Don't forget the national humiliation. We will strive for self-improvement! May the prosperity of China last forever.
