Kenya Brookhouse School Visiting Our Campus, Writing a New Chapter of Round Square Exchange and Cooperation.
On March 19th, a group of 26 students and 3 teachers from Kenya Brookhouse School arrived at BCCSC/BCS and initiated a two-week exchange activity. BCCSC/BCS held a warm and solemn welcome ceremony for them. The leadership team, teachers, and students all expressed their warm welcome to the distinguished guests who came from afar. At the welcome ceremony, the students of BCCSC/BCS conveyed their sincere welcome to the honored guests through the traditional Chinese performance of fan dance. BCCSC students taught Kenya students the essentials and key movements of the fan dance on the spot. Grade 7 students of our school distributed hand-written welcome letters to the teachers and students from Kenya.

With our school students, the teachers and students from Kenya visited our campus with great interest, opening the prelude of a friendly exchange.

The flag-raising ceremony on Monday was particularly special because teachers and students from Kenya and all the teachers and students of our school jointly participated in the solemn flag-raising ceremony. At that time, national anthems of the China and Kenya were played one after another, which was not only the songs, but also the melody of cross-border friendship and respect.

On the sports field, both sides of the students ran freely and played soccer and basketball together, showing good sportsmanship and teamwork. Our school students even took on the role of cultural exchange messengers, and enthusiastically taught the Kenyan students to play traditional Chinese yoyo. The Kenyan students were full of curiosity and interest in this novel sport. Under the guidance of the Chinese students, Kenyan students gradually mastered the skills of playing Chinese yoyo. Not only on the sports field, but also in the classroom, the students from both countries had classes together, sharing knowledge and insights, with laughter resounded throughout the campus.

Kenya teachers and students came to our school cafeteria to participate in the dumpling-making activity and experience the process of making traditional Chinese cuisine together. On the day of the activity, chefs of the school cafeteria prepared dumpling skins and fillings. With the active participation of teachers and students from Kenya, dumplings of different shapes were made. Although the dumplings were not perfect, this did not affect the enthusiasm of the teachers and students at all. Everyone tasted the dumplings made by themselves and experienced the charm of Chinese cuisine.

Apart from traditional Chinese cuisine, the Kenyan teachers and students also experienced the traditional techniques of Chinese fan flowers and paper-cutting. They learned with great interest, and the paper in their hands transformed into magical patterns, allowing them to understand the uniqueness of traditional Chinese culture.

The teachers and students of the two schools joined hands side by side to roam the magnificent and splendid Great Wall, and jointly appreciate the beautiful and magnificent scenery, and left the footprints that witnessed the deep friendship between the two sides on the ancient and expansive Great Wall.

At the warm and touching closing ceremony, teachers and students from both BCCSC/BCS and Kenya’s Brookhouse School spent an unforgettable time together. Everyone respectively made deeply touching speeches, and exchanged carefully prepared gifts to express the deep friendship between each other. The Kenyan teachers and students were filled with respect and paid the highest praise to our school's teachers and students, and they also performed wonderfully with their unique dances, winning rounds of applause. At the time of parting, everyone was reluctant to part and said goodbye affectionately. This cross-border friendship will always stay in each other's hearts and become precious memories. This exchange program not only enhanced the understanding and friendship between the teachers and students of the two countries, but also set up a bridge for cultural exchange and cooperation. We look forward to having more such exchange opportunities in the future, so that the cross-border friendship can continue to shine.
