BCS Chinese Subject Practice and Social Practice Activities
Montessori, an Italian educator, mentioned a famous educational idea in his book. The Secret of Childhood: I hear, I forget; I see, I remember; I do, I understand! In fact, this educational view of attaching importance to practice has existed in our country since ancient times. It is said in Xunzi's Ru Xiao Pian: "It is better not to hear than to hear, to hear than to see, to see than to know, and to know than to do."In the language learning of BCS elementary school, "learning in activities and growing in practice" has always been our philosophy. For this reason, in all previous language practice week activities, We try to transform poetry, famous works and Chinese knowledge into various interesting activities. It has successfully held the "Ancient Poetry Conference", "Top Scholar Competition", "Gathering in the Red Mansion" and "24 Solar Terms Postcard Design Competition".
This Chinese practice activity has taken a new step on the basis of the original combination of Chinese learning and activities. The school extended the activity out of the campus.
The activities are divided into three grades: low grades, middle grades and high grades. The activities of each grade have their own themes, which are "food", "utensils" and "elegance". These three themes are not randomly selected and unrelated. They represent human society from "solving survival needs" to "improving the quality of life", and finally to "pursuing spiritual enjoyment". Around these three different themes, we have designed a variety of activities for all grades. Correspondingly, we chose the location of this social practice activity in the ancient poetry town of Fengtai District.
Lower Grades: Food.
Food is the first necessity of the people, and food is the basis of human survival and development. Under the theme of "food", the first and second grade students learned what food is? What are the types of food? What are the sources of food for primitive people? What are the five grains when we say "people eat five grains" in our daily life? How does the rice we eat every day come from? They experienced the three ways of primitive people to get food: fishing and hunting, gathering and planting. They experienced the processing process after food acquisition: grinding flour and making mung bean cakes. In the recording of ancient poetry recitation, the ancient poems recited by the first grade students are related to the way they get food, and the ancient poems recited by the second grade students are related to the way they get food. Each poem contains a food crop. The second grade students also gathered the shadow puppets they had learned in this semester's project. There were three shadow plays related to getting food. Through a series of food-related learning and hands-on activities, students have a different understanding of the food we come into contact with every day. Finally, with the help of senior students and homeroom teachers, the first and second grades have developed peripheral creative products related to food. We Look forward to passing on the knowledge of food to more people in another form in the charity sale at the end of the semester.
Middle Grades: Instrument.
Utensil is a general term for utensils. All the tools we use can be called utensils. In the course of human development, the use of tools promotes the process of civilization, which is the most direct manifestation of the development of human productivity. In the third and fourth grades of theme learning, the third grade is mainly "wine vessel" learning. It combines all kinds of wine vessels appearing in ancient poems. Teacher Jin Jinghong, an artist, designed a vivid and exquisite course for students on the history of Chinese porcelain development. And through the pottery, rubbing and other links in the practice of going out, students can further feel the charm of Chinese porcelain in hands-on practice. The key experience of the fourth grade is weapons. Through the systematic combing of the knowledge of weapons and the soft pottery weapons made under the guidance of art teacher He Fei. The students have a deeper understanding of ancient Chinese weapons. In addition to these two key learning objects, the students also went out to practice. They have experienced farm tools, transportation tools, tea sets, musical instruments and other utensils.
High grades: Elegance.
When people's material life is satisfied, elegant spiritual life has become another pursuit of people. In the Song Dynasty, the epitome of "elegance", ordering tea, burning incense, arranging flowers and hanging pictures were called "four arts". In addition to experiencing the "four arts" in the practical activities of going out, the students in the senior grade section also experienced the "four arts" once. They also focused on learning and experiencing the tea hundred operas in the tea culture of the Song Dynasty in the way of learning first and then experiencing. With tea as a painting, a water painting is drawn in the tea bowl to immerse in the elegant taste of the ancients.
In particular, it is worth mentioning that in this combination of language practice and social practice, we also used the latest learning platform provided by the school: Canglory platform. Using this platform, we can better provide learning resources to students. And through the interactive program of the platform, we can interact with students on what we have learned, so as to better help students absorb knowledge. It is also more convenient for teachers to understand the learning situation of students.
With a good vision, cross-border activities and new technical support, we firmly believe that this Chinese practice activity will be a good start for a new way of learning.
